Issue 9: The Vitality Issue

My team and I decided to make the theme of this issue vitality as it came out in the beginning of the corona virus, in the midst of national unrest, and during a semester full of instability at Lee University. Working on this issue was not easy, but allowed us to embrace hard conversations while also uniting together to seek joy and create beauty.

Issue 10: The Reflection Issue

This is my favorite Vindagua issue to date, and I am honored to have worked on it. We used this issue to pause and consider the impact of the global pandemic on Lee University and its people. Focusing on the theme of reflection allowed each story to be honest and raw.

Issue 9: The Community Section

As the Community Editor for Vindagua, I was in charge of developing stories that would reflect the conversations happening in the Lee University community as well as in society as a whole. This was a bit difficult at times because of the hardships 2020 brought, but was also a chance to place the spotlight on important topics. Thanks to my four contributing writers, we were able to shape this section to what it is today. Developing, assigning, editing, and writing stories for this section was strenuous and exciting work, and collaborating with the Vindagua photographers and designers when brainstorming visual ideas was creatively fulfilling.

Feel free to look through this section in the gallery below! (There are arrows one can click or tap on which can sometimes be hard to see.)

Issue 10: The Community Section

Issue 10, much like the one above, was full of hard conversations as well, but turned out to be one of my favorite sections in any past issue. This section came out very cohesive, and all of my writers were extremely receptive to the story angles I assigned. Pitching and developing the story and visual ideas for this issue was a gratifying and creative experience. Furthermore, I was delighted to write a story on deconstruction, which is a subject that has always intrigued me.

Again, I hope you enjoy going through this section in the gallery below!

The Shalom Project Nonprofit

Working as the social media coordinator as well as an assistant for this organization was an exciting and fun growing experience. Though I did not have as much creative freedom in this position, it taught me the discipline of following a leader’s branding and content directions. Nonetheless, I was able to pitch ideas to improve the organization’s effectiveness and visibility such as redesigning the logo, creating business cards, implementing a ‘give’ option on the website, creating newsletters, etc.
